2024 Kia Sonet Facelift: See The First Spy Shots Of The New SUV

Kia is gearing up to introduce the Sonet facelift, which will focus on cosmetic enhancements and the addition of new features while keeping the existing powertrain options. Although the facelifted Sonet has been spotted at overseas locations before, this is the first time it has been spotted in India. The upcoming update will be a mid-cycle refresh, encompassing significant changes to both the exteriors and interiors. The inclusion of some segment-first features is expected to enhance the SUV’s appeal to potential buyers.

While the exact launch date has not been confirmed yet, it is unlikely to happen this year. However, considering the imminent launches of updated versions of Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300, Kia may consider preponing the Sonet facelift’s launch to stay competitive in the market. The introduction of new features could bolster the Sonet’s capabilities and make it a strong contender against its rivals, including Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Hyundai Venue, and Mahindra XUV300.

Kia Sonet facelift styling, new features

The upcoming Sonet facelift will predominantly focus on styling updates at the front and rear. Notably, the SUV is expected to receive new headlights, accompanied by Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) that extend all the way to the lower section of the bumper. A refreshed bumper design and possible changes to the front grille will contribute to achieving a sportier profile for this popular SUV. It remains to be seen if the facelift will introduce any new color options.

While the side profile is likely to remain largely unchanged, the test mule’s covered sides indicate that there might not be any significant alterations to the door panelling. The chrome window lining, roof rails, and body-colored rear-view mirrors appear to be the same as the current model. Additionally, the alloy wheels on this particular test mule feature the same design as the current model, and red brake calipers are visible, a feature already available with the existing GT variants.

Rivals too are working on major updates

As the Sonet facelift is in the works, its competitors like the Tata Nexon and XUV300 are also gearing up for their respective updates. The XUV300 facelift is reportedly set to receive a significant upgrade in the form of a panoramic sunroof, a feature that would be a first in its segment and likely to attract a lot of attention from potential buyers.

On the other hand, the Nexon facelift is expected to come with several exciting additions, including a 360° camera, front parking sensors, and sequential turn indicators. Moreover, Tata is planning to introduce a more powerful turbo petrol engine and a 7-speed DCT gearbox, enhancing the driving experience for Nexon enthusiasts.

With these developments in mind, Kia is likely keeping a close eye on its competitors while finalizing the changes for the upcoming Sonet facelift, aiming to stay competitive and deliver a compelling package to the market.
