BMW CE02 Electric Scooter Spied In India
Just a month following its global premiere, the fresh BMW electric scooter has now been spotted in India. It was observed in a public area in Sringeri, Karnataka. Credit goes to automotive enthusiast Shreyas for sharing these exclusive images.
In the international market, this scooter starts at USD 7.6k, approximately Rs 6.3 lakh. There’s a likelihood that TVS Motor is conducting tests on this scooter. TVS serves as BMW’s manufacturing partner in India. TVS is responsible for producing the BMW G310 series of motorcycles, which not only find a market in India but are also exported worldwide.
TVS might be evaluating the scooter for a potential launch under their own branding in India. Alternatively, TVS could be considering the prospect of manufacturing this new BMW electric scooter at their manufacturing facility.
BMW CE 02 Styling and Features
The BMW CE 02 isn’t your usual scooter. While it might not fit the conventional idea of beauty, its youthful energy and rebellious nature demand attention. A standout trait of the CE 02 is its remarkable customization potential. Riders can select from various accessories and customization options, tailoring the scooter to their unique preferences.
Yet, it’s not just about appearance. BMW has made sure riders can stay connected while enjoying their ride on the CE 02 electric scooter. The 3.5-inch micro TFT screen, placed on a single bracket, creates a floating effect and presents an array of information. For enhanced connectivity, users can link their smartphones with the BMW Motorrad Connected app and BMW Backend Connectivity, unlocking a range of features accessible through dedicated switches on the left handle.
The CE 02 also offers a collection of premium elements, including LED headlights, USD front forks, a one-piece flat seat, an elevated handlebar, and sporty rear-view mirrors. The riding position seems quite comfortable, although mastering the distinctive character of this electric vehicle might require some time.
Beneath its distinctive exterior, the CE 02 employs a dual-loop steel frame with an adaptable rear shock absorber. It moves on 14-inch wheels on both ends, ensuring a tall and confident presence on the streets. Safety takes precedence with disc brakes and ABS on the front wheel, while the rear wheel is powered by a single-sided swingarm and belt-drive mechanism.
BMW CE 02 Range
The CE 02 provides battery options that offer adaptability to various travel requirements. Users have the choice between a single or dual battery configuration. Each lithium-ion battery pack holds a capacity of 2 kWh. The single-battery variant of the CE 02 weighs 119 kg and delivers a range of 45 km, with a top speed capped at 45 kmph. It’s worth noting that in several European countries, the single-battery model doesn’t necessitate a license, making it a convenient and pragmatic option for city commuting. However, in India, electric scooters without a license requirement are typically limited to a top speed of 25 kmph, which is important for potential buyers to consider.
On the flip side, the dual-battery version weighs slightly more at 132 kg but extends the range significantly to 90 km. It generates 15 hp and can achieve a top speed of 95 kmph. Charging choices are versatile, with a standard 0.9 kW charger on offer. For those in need of a quicker charge, a 1.5 kW fast charger is available. The dual-battery version takes around 5 hours and 12 minutes to charge using the standard charger, and about 3 hours and 30 minutes with the fast charger. The single-battery variant can be charged in approximately 3 hours and 2 minutes using the standard charger.
