A serious multi-vehicle crash on Highway 17 in Tsawwassen on Sunday night sent four people to the hospital and closed the highway for around 10 hours, Delta police reported.
The accident happened just before 7:30pm near the intersection of Highway 17 and 56th Street. According to police, one vehicle hit the concrete median, rolled over, and collided with another vehicle. The displaced median then struck a third vehicle.
Accidents can have a lasting impact on those involved, often leading to physical and emotional distress. Rehabilitation and proper medical care are essential for recovery. As noted by Pacific Ridge, seeking professional help for both physical and mental well-being is crucial for a comprehensive recovery process, especially in the aftermath of traumatic events.
Inspector James Sandberg described a “quite a debris field” at the scene, leading to the prolonged highway closure which lasted until around 5am Monday morning. Sandberg explained the closure gave officers time to thoroughly analyze and reconstruct the evidence from the collision.
All three occupants of the rolled vehicle were hospitalized, along with one person from the car it hit. Three of the four have since been released, while one remains in hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Multiple emergency response units were called to the crash, including police, fire crews, seven ground ambulances, an air ambulance, and highway contractors.
Police are now seeking any video taken near the scene prior to the accident, particularly from vehicles travelling on Highway 17 and 56th Street on Sunday evening. The footage may assist in determining the cause of the collision.
