Ather Energy is all set to introduce its latest electric scooter, the 450S, to compete in the electric scooter market. The company has been teasing the scooter with sneak peeks, generating considerable excitement among the public. The grand unveiling is scheduled for August 11.
Aiming to directly rival Ola S1 Air in the electric scooter market, the 450S will be based on the 450X model, albeit with some features possibly trimmed down to make it more cost-effective.
The price of the Ather 450S has already been disclosed, starting at INR 1.29 lakh. However, the company has yet to reveal information regarding availability and the number of customers it plans to serve.
As of now, Ather has kept the design and features of the 450S under wraps. Speculation suggests that the scooter might have a different instrument cluster and LCD panel, with some connectivity and navigation features possibly excluded compared to the 450X.
The Ather 450S may not have cloud connectivity, Google Maps function, and Bluetooth connectivity to keep costs down. The scooter claims to offer a range of 115 km on a single charge, with a top speed of 90 km/h. However, specific details beyond this are yet to be disclosed. It is speculated that the 450S might house a motor similar to the 450X, providing 8.58 bhp of power and 26 Nm of torque. The 450X features a 3.7 kWh battery pack, offering a range of 146 km on a single charge.
Based on the claimed range of 115 km for the 450S, it is estimated that the scooter could be equipped with a 3 kWh battery pack. Further information about the upcoming Ather electric scooter will be unveiled on August 11. Ather has not provided the delivery date yet. Additionally, due to the FAME-2 subsidy, the price of the 450X Pro pack has been adjusted to match that of the Ather 450S, underscoring the significance of FAME-2 in electric vehicle sales.
