NetJets has been a trusted collaborator of Textron for many years, but this latest purchase agreement takes their partnership to unprecedented heights. To put it into perspective, this order for 1,500 Cessna jets nearly doubles the total number of Cessna aircraft NetJets has acquired and operated in its four-decade-long association with Textron. Over the years, NetJets had received a little over 800 Textron aircraft. Now, they are poised to expand their fleet with a staggering 1,500 Cessna jets, all scheduled for delivery over the next 15 years.

Notably, the order encompasses the future Cessna Citation Ascend, which is slated to enter service in two years. This makes NetJets the official fleet launch customer for Textron’s latest addition to the Cessna family. While the exact number of Citation Ascend aircraft in this colossal order hasn’t been disclosed, their delivery is not expected to commence before 2025.

The Citation Ascend introduced only recently, has been hailed as an innovative addition to the mid-size business jet segment. Its standout feature is the completely revamped cockpit. In terms of passenger comfort, this new jet will retain some of the most sought-after qualities of its predecessors, such as generous legroom and enhanced flexibility.

The iconic flat floor found in previous models will be complemented by 15% larger windows and wireless controls for each passenger. The NetJets-operated Citation Ascend will feature a seven-passenger configuration, complete with a modern full refreshment center and a spacious baggage compartment.

In terms of performance, the Ascend aims to set new standards, thanks in large part to its Pratt & Whitney Canada PW545D engines, which combine increased thrust with improved fuel efficiency.

It’s worth noting that the Ascend is the only Citation model still in development. Meanwhile, the M2 Gen2, CJ3+, CJ4 Gen2, XLS Gen2, Latitude, and Longitude are all in production. The Citation XLS Gen2 was the most recent model to receive FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) certification in early 2022.
