Toyota has recently launched the updated Fortuner in Thailand, with prices ranging from 1,375,000 baht to 1,939,000 baht (approximately Rs 32.80 lakh to Rs 46.24 lakh). The Fortuner is a popular SUV in Asian and South American markets, and the latest version comes with a host of functional updates. In Thailand, customers have three variants to choose from – Fortuner Leader, Legender, and the top-spec GR Sport. Toyota Fortuner new updates (Thailand)
The Toyota Fortuner Legender and GR Sport variants have received exciting new features, enhancing the overall driving experience. Both models now come with a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, providing seamless smartphone connectivity. Additionally, all three variants are equipped with a tyre pressure monitoring system to ensure optimal safety and performance.
When it comes to safety, the Fortuner GR Sport benefits from the Toyota Safety Sense suite, which includes collision avoidance, lane watch, and lane change warning systems. The SUV can now be safely maneuvered while leaving a lane, thanks to automatic control, delay, and speed adjustment. The Legender variant also receives similar safety updates. For the Fortuner Leader variant, safety enhancements include the RCTA reversing warning system, blind-spot warning system on the side mirror, and a 360° surround view camera.
For a smoother ride and better control, both the Legender and GR Sport variants have undergone suspension upgrades. Fortuner GR Sport gets a more powerful engine
For performance enthusiasts, the Fortuner GR Sport comes with an exciting upgrade in the form of a newly tuned 2.8-litre GD turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine. This powerhouse now generates an impressive 224 PS of maximum power and 550 Nm of peak torque, a significant gain of 20 PS and 50 Nm compared to the earlier version, which produced 204 PS and 500 Nm. The 6-speed automatic transmission and switchable part-time 4WD system remain unchanged, providing a thrilling driving experience. Interestingly, the updated power and torque numbers of the GR Sport variant now match those of the Australian-spec Hilux GR Sport, further elevating its performance credentials.
On the other hand, the Fortuner Legender retains the 2.8-litre engine in its earlier configuration, offering robust power and torque figures. Additionally, the Legender variant also provides the option of a 2.4-litre engine, delivering 150 PS of power and 400 Nm of torque. The base-spec Leader variant exclusively features the 2.4-litre engine as its powerplant. Both the Legender and Leader variants are available with either a 2WD or a 4WD option, providing versatility for various driving needs.
As for the exterior, the Thai-spec Fortuner remains largely unchanged, with no cosmetic updates or new color options. The interiors are also expected to be similar to the earlier version, ensuring a familiar and comfortable driving environment for Fortuner enthusiasts.
