According to leaked homologation documents, Kia has revealed the EV5, which will feature a sizable battery and a single motor setup producing a peak torque of up to 310 Nm.
In alignment with the electric vehicle (EV) trend, Kia and Hyundai have introduced various products to stay in step with the expanding global electric vehicle market. Anticipating the need to reach net-zero carbon emissions goals, future EV production could see an increase. Kia has now added a fresh member to its global lineup, named the EV5. A majority of design elements from the EV5 concept have been retained in the production model.
Kia is providing a glimpse of the EV5 through official photos. This marks Kia’s third electric vehicle developed on the Electric-Global Modular Platform (e-GMP), and it was unveiled at the Chengdu Motor Show. There’s a possibility that this electrified model might make its way to India in the future, occupying a position above the Seltos EV.

Same design language as flagship EV9
The recently introduced Kia EV5 mirrors the design language of the company’s flagship electric SUV, the EV9. Some of these design elements are also integrated into Kia’s smaller EV4. The SUV’s stance and proportions contribute to its robust aesthetic appeal. The front fascia combines a futuristic and minimalistic look, enhanced by 3D LED DRLs featuring ‘Signature Star Map Lighting’ for a touch of sophistication.
The side profile showcases bold lines and stylish aero wheels, while the rear design draws inspiration from the EV6 model. Kia provides a choice of nine glossy colors for the EV5, along with a single Matte Ivory Silver option. The glossy options comprise Magma Red, Starry Night Black, Ivory Silver, Clear White, Snow White Pearl, Iceberg Green, Tide Blue, Frost Blue, and Shale Grey.
For the base model, upholstery options include two woven fabrics and synthetic leather. Inside, the interiors present four color choices and five seat pattern alternatives. The cabin features 64-color ambient lighting, complete with features like a high-speed warning. The anticipated launch is scheduled for next year. In the event of an India launch, the price could potentially fall within the Rs 40-50 lakh range.
