KIU Rangers Maintain Dominance over KU Lady Eagles

By Isaac Akugizibwe KIU, Main Campus– The KIU Rangers extended their supremacy over the Kampala University Lady Eagles with a commanding victory of 96-44 in the National Basketball League on Sunday.

The Victory moved the Rangers up to second place on the table below JKL Lady Dolphins who have secured one more game.

Sunday’s game featured another spectacular team performance by KIU Rangers as five players scored in double figures.

“It’s another great performance from the girls. The score may not tell it all, but the display was very impressive,” KIU Rangers coach, Julius Lutwama said Postgame.

Though the fans had wanted the Rangers to reach a century mark, Lutwama maintained that the result was still fair enough to be appreciated.

“The fans might have wanted 100, but we fell short by four, which is equally a great result for us. Yes, we also wanted it, but we weren’t able to get it. Let’s appreciate what we have achieved,” he added.

All star Mary Moses Amaniyo scored the game’s highest 22 points and added nine rebounds, while team captain Ines Kanyamuneza scored 17, Sharon Kirabo 13, Brenda Ayere, and Esperance Balita 12 also scored in double figures.

Congolese International Esperance  Balita scored first double in a KIU Rangers jersey as she also registered her highest number of rebounds (9).

“I am very happy with my performance today and the general improvement in the second round,” Balita said post game.

“I want to thank my teammates, the coach, and management for supporting me in different aspects and for trusting me with the ball,” she added.

Fildauce Namulema posted the game’s highest six assists, leading the assists chart in a game for the seventh time this season.

KU Lady Eagles will play UCU Lady Canons on Friday, May 10th, a game that will be the team’s major test so far in the second round of the season.
